France Recalls Ambassador to the United States in Protest of Australia Deal

France announced connected Friday that it is instantly recalling its ambassador to the United States, Philippe Étienne, successful protestation of President Biden’s announcement of an statement to supply nuclear-powered submarines to Australia without consulting French officials.

In a statement, the French overseas curate said the determination was made by French President Emmanuel Macron.

“At the petition of the President of the Republic, I person decided to instantly callback our 2 ambassadors to the United States and Australia to Paris for consultations,” Jean-Yves Le Drian, the overseas curate said. “This exceptional determination is justified by the exceptional gravity of the announcements made connected 15 September by Australia and the United States.”
