Earthquake: Heartbreaking scenes.. Tears left behind in Myanmar-Thailand

At least 694 people have been killed and hundreds injured in an earthquake in Myanmar , with the toll expected to rise. There were also deaths in Thailand. The U.S. Geological Survey said the tremors began around noon local time on Friday. The main quake was followed by several smaller aftershocks measuring between 4.5 and 6.5 on the Richter scale .

The humanitarian crisis resulting from the civil war has raised questions about the current government's ability to deal with this natural disaster. The earthquake destroyed markets, temples and bridges in Myanmar.
Significant damage was also reported in Myanmar,
formerly known as Burma, where a 2021 coup ousted the democratically elected ruling party and led to the rule of a military junta. Rescue teams search damaged government staff quarters in Naypyidaw.

The Red Cross also confirmed that significant damage had been caused in Myanmar. Myanmar has declared a state of emergency in six regions and has requested international assistance. Hundreds of kilometers from the epicenterCollapsed in Bangkok, the capital of ThailandConstruction workers are trapped under tall buildings. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing.

Coordination with emergency services
: Thailand's Public Health Minister Samsak Theppushin said 409 people were working at the site of the collapsed high-rise building. Thailand is not an earthquake hotspot. Bangkok's high-rise buildings are not built with earthquake-resistant technology. The Thai government said it was coordinating with emergency services in the quake-hit areas.

People left hotels, companies, and hospitals in the heart of the Thai capital and took to the streets in fear and confusion.
