Chhattisgarh: An exchange of fire took place between security forces and Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh this morning (Saturday). In this incident16 Maoists killedPolice conducted a combing operation on information about the movement of Maoists on the local Gogunda hill. During this, the Maoists opened fire. The police retaliated and killed 16 people. Senior police officials revealed that the firing took place in the limits of Kerlapal police station. They said that the District Reserve Guard and Central Reserve Police Force forces participated in this operation. Currently, the firing between the two sides is ongoing. More details are awaited.

Maoists have committed atrocities in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. Two children were killed and another woman was seriously injured when an IED they planted exploded. Bijapur police said this. The Maoists had previously planted an IED on the way to the forest area. The woman, who had gone to the forest with her children to pick fruits, was returning home when she accidentally stepped on it and it exploded. She was seriously injured in the incident and two children lost their lives. Locals are taking her to the Community Health Center in Tidan for treatment.
